Our Programs
Explore our diverse range of community-led programs designed to foster connection, safety, and a sense of belonging for everyone.
The NEST
The NEST is Which-Way Connect's multicultural community hub in Trinity Beach, bringing people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds together through shared experiences, cultural activities, creative workshops, sensory experiences, community learning and social connection. It is designed to reduce isolation, strengthen cultural understanding and build meaningful relationships. The NEST provides a welcoming, inclusive space where individuals, families and community groups can connect, participate, share skills and feel a sense of belonging. Supported through the Australian Government's Multicultural Grassroots Initiative Program for its first stage of cultural and sensory activation, The NEST is built around our belief in connection before crisis, creating stronger, more connected and resilient communities through everyday opportunities to come together.
Safe Starts VR
Safe Starts VR is Which-Way Connect's interactive road safety education initiative, supported by funding from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Using virtual reality headsets and driving simulators, participants experience realistic road scenarios, explore the consequences of unsafe driving and develop greater awareness of road safety. Designed for young people and the wider community, the program encourages safer choices through engaging, hands-on learning. Because in real life, there is no reset button.
Support connection, opportunity and belonging for people across our community.
Our Community Roots on the Northern Beaches
Which-Way Connect is deeply connected to the Cairns Northern Beaches, Kuranda and surrounding Far North Queensland communities. Founded by a lifelong local, our organisation has grown through genuine relationships, shared experiences and a commitment to bringing people together across cultures, generations and backgrounds.
We acknowledge the Yirrganydji and Djabugay peoples, Traditional Custodians of Country across the areas in which we live, work and connect. Our relationships with local First Nations communities are built on cultural respect, listening, learning and recognising the importance of connection to Country, family and community.
Our cultural roots also extend beyond Far North Queensland. The founder was born and raised locally and has 43 years of connection to the Northern Beaches, with English and Irish heritage through her parents and grandparents. Our Treasurer is a descendant of King Bungaree, with Guringai ancestry connected to the Broken Bay region of New South Wales, a family lineage shared by our founder's children. Our Secretary is the niece of respected Aboriginal artist Colin Jones (Ko-Ro), of Kaladoon and Nunuckle descent, whose work shares stories of Aboriginal history, culture and connection to Country.
These family histories, alongside the diverse cultural backgrounds and lived experiences within our community, contribute to the foundations of Which-Way Connect. We are committed to creating culturally respectful, inclusive and welcoming spaces where First Nations peoples, multicultural communities and people from all walks of life can connect, share knowledge and build meaningful relationships.
Our roots are local, our connections reach far beyond, and our purpose remains the same — Connection Before Crisis.
